In this new entry of our blog we introduce you to What is an Eagle in Golf? How to achieve it

What is an Eagle?

In golf, an “eagle” is a term used to describe a score on a hole that is two strokes less than par for the hole. The par for a hole is the number of strokes an average golfer is expected to need to complete that hole. So, when you make an eagle, it means that you have managed to complete a hole in two strokes less than par.

There are 2 common types of eagles in golf:

Eagle on a par 4 hole

This means that you have managed to complete a hole that is expected to require four strokes in just two strokes. For example, if you hit a long tee shot that lands near the green on the first shot and then putt on the second shot, you would have made an eagle on a par 4 hole.

Eagle on a par 5 hole

This means that you have completed a hole that is expected to require five strokes in just three shots. For example, if you hit a long tee shot on the first shot, a second shot that puts you close to the green and then putt on the third shot, you would have made an eagle on a par 5 hole.

How to Get It Done?

Making an eagle in golf is a remarkable achievement and generally requires exceptional play and a great deal of accuracy. Here are some tips to give yourself a chance of making an eagle:

Course Conditions

Course conditions, such as the length of the grass on the green, the length of the rough and the direction of the wind, can also influence your ability to make an eagle. Adjust your strategy accordingly.

Positive Mentality

Keep a positive mindset and stay calm. It is not common to make an eagle, so confidence and concentration are important.

Remember that making an eagle is a rare achievement in golf, and most golfers don’t do it often. Enjoy the game and celebrate your successes when you achieve them.
